highland park illinois: Arts and Crafts and Prairie Style Architecture in Highland Park IL - 05/13/10 12:31 AM
Arts and Crafts and Prairie Style Architecture  in Highland Park IL

The Arts and Crafts movement started in Great Britain in the mid-1800s, led by central figure William Morris.  His decorative interior design objects would be a natural fit in many homes throughout the North Shore, which comes as no surprise.  In the United States, the Arts and Crafts Movement found its greatest expression in American Craftsman style architecture, which left a major mark on many North Shore homes and communities.  The Arts and Crafts Society started in Chicago in 1897 at the famous Hull House.  There are several Craftsman … (2 comments)

Ravinia is a wonderful  outdoor park where you can enjoy live concerts with family and friends.  The Ravinia Festival is the oldest outdoor musical festival in North America and it is known world-wide for its first class programs.  It is a rich part of the cultural heritage of Highland Park Illinois and one of our greatest local treasures.  Ravinia dates back to 1904, when it was opened in its first incarnation as an amusement park designed to attract visitors from the nearby rail line.  During the great depression the grounds were shuttered for five years until … (1 comments)

highland park illinois: Highland Park Illinois Spring Clean-Up Program - 04/14/10 02:58 PM
Highland Park Illinois Spring Clean -Up Program is soon approaching.
Veolia Environmental Waste Services will be conducting their annual Spring Clean-Up Program for the City of Highland Park on four consecutive Saturdays, beginning May 1 and ending May 22.  This is a wonderful opportunity for Highland Park Residents  to declutter and get rid of JUNK.  Every year it amazes me how much "stuff" we accumulate to put out at the curb.
As a REALTOR in Highland Park - I think that this annual Spring Clean-Up Program is fabulous for those who are selling a home and for those who  have bought … (3 comments)

highland park illinois: Walking Through History in Highland Park Illinois - 04/08/10 12:46 AM
Last week I was picking up a gift at Borders on Central Avenue, in vibrant downtown Highland Park,  when I came across Highland Park: Settlement To The 1920s.  The book, part of Arcadia Publishing's Images of America series, is a great little volume on the early history of my home turf, Highland Park Illinois.  The author is Julia Johnas, a librarian at the Highland Park Public Library who runs our local history archive and serves as a liaison to the City of Highland Park Historic Preservation Commission.   As a REALTOR in Highland Park Illinois, this book blew my mind!  I … (1 comments)

highland park illinois: How "Million Dollar Listing" Plays in Highland Park Illinois - 11/25/09 03:12 PM
Who else loves Bravo TV's show "Million Dollar Listing?"  Sure, Los Angeles is about 2000 miles away from my home turf of Highland Park, Illinois, but it's so interesting to see how market highs and lows play out in such different communities.  Much as I love the drama between the real estate agents, I thank my lucky stars that my own relationships with other brokers here on the North Shore of Chicago are infinitely more professional.  What's most interesting about this show is the interaction between agents and clients.  Those relationships are essentially the same, whether you've got LA Chad with … (5 comments)

highland park illinois: LETTING YOUR HIGHLAND PARK ILLINOIS REALTOR HELP YOU! - 11/18/09 01:05 AM
My goal as a Highland Park, Illinois REALTOR  is to help you with your real estate needs. In order to do my job and best serve your needs, I need to ask a lot of questions, many which actually don't have anything to do with the house we are viewing, some which don't seem to have any apparent connection to real estate.
I recently had the opportunity to assist a young couple moving from Chicago  to Chicago's North Shore with their home search.  We briefly spoke on the phone and met the following weekend.  We looked at several homes in Northbrook, Deerfield and … (8 comments)
