Once again the useless knowledge website has come to the aid of filling my head with stuff I can only use at dinner parties when I'm trying to avoid the buffet!
The word trivia derives from the Latin tri + via, which translates as "three streets." In Roman times, as a public service at the intersection of three streets, there was an information type booth whereinformation about the surrounding area was posted for travelers. People soon found the data was so useless that citizens (8 comments)

I LOVE MY JOB! Next time you have a bad day at work think of this guy. An email from Bob, ~Hi Sue, Just another note from your bottom-dwelling brother. Last week I had a bad day at the office. I know you've been feeling down lately at work, so I thought I would share my dilemma with you to make you realize it's not so bad after all. Before I can tell you what happened to me, I first must bore you with a few technicalities of my job. As you know, my office lies at the bottom of the (21 comments)
The answer is yes! But we have to decide before we leave our home what exactly is our plan for the evening.
Are we going to behave and eat sensibly and only what we require? Or are we going to say to heck with it, it's one night and its a special occasion and I'll get (4 comments)
The moon will be full tomorrow and the closest to the earth in 2011.
That means anyone with a clear sky and a telescope will have a fine time star gazing tonight!

Day 1: Moral high! - supplies high? 5 easy steps to managing your weight. So you've decided it's time to take your health into your own hands. Where does one start? 1) Clean out your cupboards! If you were to go into your pantry or fridge what would you find? High calorie snacks and foods that might be simple to make, but not that good for you? There are so many options now in the supermarkets that can make your lifestyle choices easier. Make a list that you will stick to and go shopping to stock your fridge and pantry with foods that (18 comments)

peg barcelojackson: Sunday Funnee!
- 03/13/11 05:55 AM
Sunday Funnee! For those of you who are not Canadians, a little explanation is in order. A newfie is a person from the province of New Foundland. They are the most down to earth, generous folks you will ever come across. (The airplane groundings after 9/11 have shown that). The thing about people from Newfoundland is; they seem to have their own language. Even though it's English, often people from other provinces don't understand them and 'fuggetaboudit' when they talk quickly. Because of that, people tend to poke fun at these wonderful people. That being said, they have a natural inclination to working (19 comments)
peg barcelojackson: Was there a meth lab in that house?

Was there a meth lab in that house? How would you know? There must be a few things that can clue you in. Grow ops often leave a lot of damage that a home inspector will be able to spot. But what about a Meth Lab? Here are a few pointers to help you figure it out!
So, since I finished tiling in the kitchen I want to put up all my shelves etc that were up pre-tiling. One of the things I was missing the most was my knife rack. So I measured and leveled, drilled holes into my new tiling job and now just need to...hmmm, where are the wall anchors? Where are the wall anchors? I looked in the basement in our fix-it drawers, nope. On the tool shelves, nope. Maybe the junk drawer...

peg barcelojackson: I look awesome in facial hair! And I'm a girl!

I look awesome in facial hair! And I'm a girl! The other day I saw Lindsay Pendelton's blog about beards. I commented that my husband, who recently joined a barbershop quartet, has started waxing his moustache. It takes a lot of character to be able to walk around looking different when you do it to yourself. Ask anyone that has a blue/purple/green streak in their hair. Admittedly it's very common now, but back in the day, not so much. That reminds me of a joke: This old man was sitting on a park bench when along came a punk rocker (13 comments)
peg barcelojackson: Proof reading? Is it a good idea? I think so!

Proof reading? Is it a good idea? I think so! Maybe I'm a bit over the top, but I always proof read my blogs before I post them. Sometimes 2 or 3 times. I like the fact AR had a built in spell check (the little ABC to the top right). Here are some examples of notes (that could have use a bit of proof reading) teachers have received from parents for their children's absence from school:
1. My son is under a doctor's care and should not take PE today. Please execute him. 2. Please exkuce lisa for being absent she was sick and i (25 comments)
peg barcelojackson: Soup's, I mean Chili's on! Three pepper chili...

Soup's, I mean Chili's on! Three pepper chili... A while back I read a post and someone, I think it was Roger M, had put in a picture of chili. Almost everyone commented on it only to find out he hadn't made it! Well, I'm making chili for dinner and thought I'd share the recipe with you, since it's still winter here (- 14 c) and we could use something hearty!
I start with ground meat, I use turkey, but you use what you want, brown that. Add one of each-chopped; red onion, red, yellow and orange bell peppers. Spice all (5 comments)
