realestate: Do You Do Doorknobs? - 12/22/08 03:08 AM

Do you do doorknobs? In this world of high tec marketing, let me suggest to you some good old fashioned low tec promoting. You may be pleasantly surprised how this simple tool can work to gain you name exposure. Before you try this it may be a good idea to contact your local city hall to see if there are any ordinances prohibiting hangers. I also use a "Just Listed" doorknob to help your sellers neighbors know your home is on the market and they can help find you a buyer. Because would you like to have a say in … (2 comments)

realestate: Does your listing need an Edge? How about new Appliances? Heres a Tip! - 12/15/08 06:20 AM

Many homes that are sitting on the market could use new energy efficient appliances, as a selling feature in a very competitive market. Some don’t have any and would show better with appliances in place.
As you may have already realized, certain household items, including appliances, go on sale at certain times of the year. If you have the flexibility to choose when you shop when you purchase certain appliances, do so. However, you also need to do your homework, or you may be taken in by retailers who mark their prices up so they can slash them. Therefore, you … (3 comments)

realestate: The Snow Day was a Great Day - 12/10/08 03:23 AM

Thanks for all the comments about the Snow Day. The kids and I finished the day sledding down our driveway well into the evening and playing "king of the hill". This old guy still rules the hill. Many an attempt was made to take me off the top of the snow castle but to no avail. Any of you agents in the sunshine state right after Christmas please send us in the land of the frozen chosen an early spring.

realestate: I't a Snow Day! School and the ReMax office is Closed - 12/09/08 03:27 AM

In the busyness of our adult lives it's great to have a reminder every now and again that life isn't just about closing the next deal. This photo of two of my boys having a blast on their improvised sled, reminded me of a scene from the movie "It's a Wonderful Life". This in turn made me think how very blessed I am to have a beautiful wife of 26 years and six fantastic children, a roof over our heads and food on the table. Times my be tight in the real estate market but as compared to the majority … (2 comments)

realestate: A perspective on the biggest misconception about banking and home purchasing - 12/05/08 03:49 AM

This is Steve Kundert, he is the Residential Mortgage Loan Officer at Anchor Bank in Monroe, WI. I asked Steve what he thought was the biggest misconception in banking today as it relates to home purchasing. This is what he had to say.
"One of the biggest misconceptions about banks and home purchasing in today's housing market is the banks are out of money and not providing loans. That's simply not true. The lenders ar AnchorBank work with customers every day to make sure they know how much home they can afford and what the loan process will be. In … (0 comments)

If you look closely down the path, there in the slightly obscured background is my home. realestate: Just a 30 minute drive from anywhere Green County Wisconsin - 11/26/08 03:33 AM

MADISON This is one of the reasons it is so great to live in any communtity in Green County Wisconsin.

Madison, the capital of the state, has a population of about 200,000. It is called the "Four Lakes City" because of its proximity to Lakes Mendota, Monona, Waubesa, and Kegonsa. The Yahara River, which passes through the heart of Madison, connects the four lakes. A fifth lake, Wingra, adds to the beauty of the city. realestate: What do you see? - 11/24/08 04:05 AM

Some people when they look at this picture they see a field full of bales. Others see the large open land covered with the years first snowfall.
When I saw this field it reminded me of the real estate market. You see some would point out the foreclosures, the troubled financial institutions, and faltering stock market, represented by the hay bales in this photo.
I see and I hope you see the large open land covered by the thin snow as the even greater opportunity hidden under the surface for buyers to get the home of their dreams. With a … (1 comments)

realestate: A Happy Customer - 11/19/08 02:47 AM
Scott,

Beth and I wish to express our sincerest gratitude for your assistance in selling our home.  We couldn’t believe we received and accepted an offer within 3 days of listing with you!  This is even more amazing given the very tough housing market for sellers.  We knew when we compared your proposal to other realtors that your plan would be most successful.  The quick sale proves you were the right man for the job.

Thanks again for all your hard work in helping us complete this sale.

Sincerely,

Mike and Beth Figi

realestate: 2nd try at that fall picture down my street - 11/01/08 03:25 AM
Here is that great fall picture that has come and gone from my neighborhood. Seasons is one of the things I love about this part of the country. Things are continually changing  just like the real estate market. People ask me when should I buy or should I just sit it out until the spring? My response to that is an old saying " a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush". Meaning we know that housing prices are lower, the supply is up, and the interest rates are down. If you have the resources to buy  your … (0 comments)

realestate: Now is a great time to buy - 10/30/08 06:23 AM
Living in southern Wisconsin we have been somewhat insulated form the drastic housing and credit difficulties, yet not isolated from them. Over the past several weeks we have seen the long term interest rate settle down to around 6%. The home values have corrected and have made this a blue light special time for those that have been on the the sidelines waiting for the right time to buy. We always have 20/20 vision in hindsight, so don't miss out on a great opportunity to get your piece of the American Dream with home ownership.
