Chris and Maria Skrip of RE/MAX Sea Island Realty attended the Beaufort Water Festival Tropical Tuesday yesterday evening.  The Landsharks, a Jimmy Buffett style band, performed until 11:00 p.m.  Rain threatened to spoil the evening, but almost immediately before 7:00, the skys cleared, we had a beautiful sunset and the weather was perfect.  The Landsharks played many of Jimmy Buffett's most popular hits, in addition to other beach music.  Kristin Miller and Chris and Jen Mahoney attended the event with Chris and Maria.

The REMAX Sea Island Realty Raft Race teams battles their way to 2nd place in the Commercial Division in the Beaufort Water Festival Raft Race Saturday morning.  Also, the team of 11 REMAX'ers raced in 5 heats to finish 2nd overall competing against 32 teams.

Rain or Shine, fun was had by all at the Opening Ceremony of the Beaufort SC Water Festival.  During the Opening Ceremony, the Marine Corps Band had to stop playing because a lightening storm rolled in.  In a valiant effort, the fireworks were shot off a little early, but were still beautiful! On Monday, The Beaufort County Planning Commission met about adding to the Habersham community: 
315 Homes 57 "shop front buildings" 150K square feet commercial space  The 57 shop front buildings would house commercial spaces on the street level and residences in the upper level(s).  These proposed shop front buildings would be in the AICUZ (Air Installation Compatibility Use Zone) of MCAS Beaufort.

The opening night of Water Festival in Beaufort South Carolina is this coming Friday the 11th of July.  The festival will run through the 20th of July.  Friday evening opening ceramonies include the Marine Corps band playing patriotic music under the pavillion and a spectacular fireworks show.  Many of the locals will take their boats to see the fireworks and anchor in the Beaufort River in front of Waterfront Park. In Beaufort SC, we have 6 to 8 foot tide changes. No (thank goodness!).  There was a very interesting article in The Beaufort Gazette today about the sink holes appearing in Beaufort's Waterfront Park.  The City of Beaufort hired a company based out of Charleston to conduct the investigation to determine what is happening to our park.  WPC Engineering, Environmental & Constructioin Services ruled that separation of concrete panels as the likely source causing the sinkholes. The sinkholes have been temporarily repaired by placing soil in the sinkholes, but this will only last about 4 months.  Once the soil was placed in the sinkholes, they replaced the walkway sections, but again this … (1 comments)
