This past Sunday, Joe and the Jackson team set up a pumpkin patch along High Street in Clintonville benefiting Neighborhood Food Services. Neighbors, friends and families stopped by, donated canned goods and money and received a pumpkin in return. The aftenoon was a smashing success. The weather was great. The event raised over $250 and hundreds of pounds of canned and dried goods for the Neighborhood Food Services food pantry.

Conservation-minded Columbus residents can buy rain barrels at one-third the normal price after registering their home as a GreenSpot and attend a workshop or pass a quiz taken online. Mayor Michael Coleman announced the Columbus GreenSpot Backyard Conservation Program at a press conference Wednesday, June 29.
A rain barrel is an easy way to get water to yards and gardens, and its free! Through the initiative, residents can buy a rain barrel for $45, 1/3 of the $139 retail price. Using a rain barral lowers the demand for treated water and saves on water bills, said an environmental steward for the mayor's office. … (2 comments)

A year-and-a-half old program designed to entice college graduates to put down roots in Ohio is meeting expectations so far, according to officials at the Grants for Grads program. Grants for Grads, operated by the Ohio Housing Finance Agency, offers interest-free loans for down payments or closing costs to college grads who decide to live in Ohio after college.
