Nicolas Cage and his family are among the many celebrities that have relocated to Las Vegas. Like so many who have moved here, from the stars and executives to just ordinary folks, the question from others is often ..."Why?" After all, it's Sin City! That's no place to raise a family. Well I think if you can see beyond the neon as Nicolas has, you'll find out there's much more to Las Vegas, but this side of it just doesn't have the catchy marketing and slogans, or it's reality anywhere near how it's often portrayed in movies or on TV. Click for Larger Image I've posted in the past that there are so many entertainers and celebrities living in Las Vegas, it makes it such a unique place to live. You never know who you might run into, or turn out to be a friend or neighbor. Donny and Marie Osmond have been a huge hit headlining at the Flamingo and have had contract extensions because of it, and Marie has made her home here in Henderson. Actually she's in the process of moving into her new home, which is still close to my parents. My folks made the move here (4 comments)
Click for Full Screen Slideshow My last post was about Las Vegas local Domenick Allen's 'Vinyl' Rock Show at Hard Rock Cafe on the Strip. The event, sponsored by Cadillac of Las Vegas, benefited the USMC Toys for Tots. It was an absolutely amazing show, and for such a great cause. It even had this thumbs up from Broadway World the day before, so I'd have to say they already knew the quality of the performance to come. This coming Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010, 8 pm to midnight, the fabulous 3 story Flagship Hard Rock Cafe on the Las Vegas Strip will be rocking to Domenick Allen's 'Vinyl Rock Show'. Domenick's personal invitation is in the above video. The show is by this former member of Foreigner and his 10 piece band, plus special celebrity guests dropping by, benefits the United States Marine Corps Toys for Tots. Donation is $20 or a new unwrapped toy, all of which will be used here in the Las Vegas Valley. Tickets are available online, and at the door.
After a nearly 5 year run at the Las Vegas Hilton, Barry Manilow has made his cross town move to Paris Las Vegas (Twitter @ParisVegas). This will be Manilow's Las Vegas Home for at least the next 2 years, and a new show based on the recently released "The Greatest Love Songs of All Time". Here's a sample on YouTube from J Arista Records. This totally revamped production uses all new state of the art computerized lighting and effects, said to have never been used before.
