holidays: April Showers bring more holidays - 03/28/08 03:42 AM
April Showers bring May Flowers! And more holidays. It is National Garden Month - how about giving seeds or annuals to your core clients. Or give out trees for Arbor Day at the end of the month. This year with gas prices it makes a lot of sense to celebrate Walk to Work Day on the 2nd. You can do a double celebration by bringing a Peanut Butter & Jelly sandwich with you on the walk. The 15th is the dreaded Tax Day and how ironic it is also the day the Titanic sunk! Enjoy the holiday list, I hope it … (2 comments)

I am ecstatic to announce "Cottage on Snowflake Lane" won first place at the 2007 Strawbery Banke Candlelight Stroll Gingerbread House contest! I just received the certificate in today's mail along with a nice gift certificate to Sunday Brunch at the Sheraton Harborside. My niece Clara and I were not even able to attend the Stroll this year and vote due to holiday scheduling. Sorry I do not have pics of all the winners. What a terrific surprise for a rainy Friday morning. Thank you to anyone who did get the chance to attend and voted for our ode to blue … (2 comments)

holidays: December Holidays - 12/06/07 04:41 AM
December is a glorious month full of holidays. There is more going on than just Christmas, Chanukah and Kwanzaa. Here is this month's list of holidays to spark your marketing ideas. I have only included those that I could confirm really exist and are not just urban legends that are proliferating on the web. So many of those food hlidays are tempting like Egg Nog Day and Chocolate Covered Anything Day. But I am trying to stick with the real world. If you know of any other December holidays please let me know.

holidays: "Cottage on Snowflake Lane" Gingerbread Passion - 11/30/07 12:44 AM

I really love houses - so much so one of my hobbies is to build gingerbread houses as a family activity. There is so much fun to be had while making a complete mess of your kitchen for days and weeks on end. Not to mention to overall sugar high you live on with Royal Frosting around. The kitchen table has not had any room for anything else during construction. Meals had to be eaten in the living room. Yesterday I delivered "Cottage on Snowflake Lane" to Strawbery Banke here in Portsmouth where they hold an annual gingerbread house exhibit and … (3 comments)

holidays: Portsmouth Rotary 36th Annual Thanksgiving Dinner - 11/21/07 06:19 AM

This time of year is very special to me as it is to most of us. Here in Portsmouth it is a time to give thanks by giving back to the community. I became a Rotarian over 11 years ago and was honored to serve as our Club President in 2002-2003. Serving the annual Thanksgiving Dinner has always been my favorite volunteer activity. It takes over 100 volunteers to put on the event. This year we are celebrating the 36th time the dinner has been hosted by the club.
The dinner consists of two groups - those that come to the Unitarian Church … (1 comments)

holidays: November Holidays & Observances - 11/03/07 03:22 AM
Pumpkins at Barker's Farm Stratham NH
I was searching for some creative new marketing & writing ideas for November and came across many different sites filled with traditional and odd holidays. Most of them I was not able to cross check but I have compiled a list with links for the ones I could confirm. Wouldn't want to spread urban legends ya' know. But, alas, I do wish I could confirm National Deviled Egg Day or National Clean Out Your Fridge Day. This has also given me several ideas of organizations that are probably looking for volunteers this month. Volunteering is my … (6 comments)
