places to visit near anderson and greenville sc: Caesar's Head State Park In Greenville County SC - 06/23/11 02:04 PM
Julius Caesar maintains a presence here in SC, at least in spirit. Just a few miles up onto the Blue Ridge Escarpment (where the mountains end and the foothills begin) you will see "Caesar's Head," a Stat Park with some of the best views anywhere in the Southeast. Just below the overlooks you catch a glimpse of "Caesar" as he looks out over his Upstate "empire."   Hiking trails ranging from easy to challenging circle and traverse Caesars Head and adjoining Jones Gap state parks, which together form the Mountain Bridge Wilderness, about 11,000 acres of pristine southern mountain forest. places to visit near anderson and greenville sc: Poinsett Bridge - The Oldest Intact Bridge In SC - 06/22/11 01:50 PM
The Poinsett Bridge, built in 1820, is the oldest intact bridge in the State of South Carolina and may be the oldest in the southeastern United States. Various sources credit the actual design of the bridge to Robert Mills, a native Charlestonian and renowned American architect who designed the Washington Monument. The bridge has been a noted historic landmark since at least the 1920s, and was listed in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) in 1970.

While on a trip to Asheville NC last year, we stopped to watch some guys play chess on the street.. I don't know why this was so fascinating to me, but it is certainly true that you can't go downtown Anderson SC and find people playing chess like this... It reminded me of a movie...

Don't you just love waterfalls? This one is near Stumphouse Tunnel. Remember the blog on the tunnel?  This is Issaquenna Falls. Isn't it gorgeous?? Just a 15-minute hike to Issaqueena Falls makes this an easy excursion for even the beginning hiker, and it's rich in lore and history. Among the most popular in Oconee County, and among the most beautiful, Issaqueena Falls is worth your trip to visit!

Speechless Sunday - A Woman, Her Cat, And A Fish
This is painted on a building in Asheville, NC... That is about a 1.5 hour drive from here. We visit Asheville fairly often and always enjoy it. I wish more buildings had paintings like this on them. They are so interesting! It makes me wonder what the artist was thinking when he/she painted it.
