After having read Bill Gassett's post on buying REO's, and George Souto's post on foreclosures, I began to wonder: is there anything really short about a short sale? Not really. The term itself refers to the shortage that the mortgage lender will have to take on the sale of the property because more is owed on it than what can be reasonably expected to be paid for it in today's market.
