Home Assistance Program for Military

Part of the new stimulus plan that has been enacted are additions to the Homeowner Assistance Program that is available for military folks who are forced to PCS to an area more than 50 miles away from their current location. One caveat is that they must have purchased their home prior to July 2006 which is when the government has determined that prices began to fall. A home seller could recoup as much as 95% of the difference between the fair market value of the home then and the fair market value of the home now. This is a great way for servicemen and service women to be able to sell their home and move on to their next assignment without taking such a huge hit, which most cannot afford to take.
