If you were going to take up the sport of Wrestling what would be some of the first things that would come to mind? Do I have the strength? Do I have the quickness? and probably you would say "I need a lot of training".
After you have been involved with the art of wrestling for a while you understand that there are a lot more questions to be answered. How is my body position, leverage, balance and control of my opponent and how do I stop his double leg or his arm bars?
But you will never have to answer the question of - How do I also stop his Superman Punch, Leg Kick, Spinning Back Fist, Flying knee or even the Jab and you definitely will not have to worry about the Equalizer called "The Submission" a Guillotine Choke or Triagle Choke.
These are the different questions when a fighter steps into the Octagon or the Cage that have to be answered every second like a chess match on steroids. This is what makes MMA fighting a complete sport. I do not want to take anything away from any of the other arts of fighting but MMA just makes sense. A UFC fighter that wears the Belt should be so proud of his accomplishment. He has beat the best of the best in every combined art form of fighting. Now that is really saying something!
There are a lot of people out there that do not take the time to understand the greatness of this sport and that is totally fine and natural for our way of life. I do the same thing about other sports. But I do not bash the sport in public. What kind of meaningful input could I give about a sport that I have never been involved with or taken the time to study it? Absolutely None! If you do not take the time to learn about the great sport of MMA please research the the ones who do talk bad about the sport and see if they have any credibility for what they are implying.
