JUST DO IT

I am brand new to social networking and very new to Active Rain.  I just posted a comment and found I do not have my picture and brokerage on my comment.  OMG!  I am embarrassed.  Just filling out all the profiles on all of the sites to get up and running is pretty time consuming. I know why most of my colleagues just say no to social networking because of the commitment. However, I knew that this is not going to go away and I had to jump in.  But how?

FIND A CLASS ON SOCIAL NETWORKING

I looked for local high schools, internet clubs that were offering classes on social media and found one at my local Naples high school. It cost me 69 dollars for a six-week course (two hours a night). The price was right!  There were only six in the class.  Naples is very quiet in the summer and a perfect time to take a class. It is also down time for REALTORS. My clients are snowbirds so our season is October to May.

FIND A TUTOR

The real bonus was my instructor.  She is young, savvy, and a patient teacher.  Just a few weeks into the course I was overwhelmed.  I knew I needed help. So I hired my instructor for private tutoring.  That was the best investment in my business in years.  Not only can she guide me through my first blogs (this is my second), but she keeps me on track to do my blogs and comments on Active Rain.  It is so easy to be distracted!

DAILY SCHEDULE

I work well in the morning. I admit to getting up at o'dark thirty so I get on to my computer before the phones start ringing . I have to check my MLS hot sheet and then just get down to tweeting, Active Rain and Facebook. Not negotiable.

If I don't do it then, it won't get done.

DON'T BE SHY!

I read some of your awesome blogs and I really wondered if I could come up with a blog of value.  Once again, my tutor just started nudging my out of the nest!  I am not flying yet, but that is o.k.  In the meantime, I am loving all of the blogs and all the shared ideas.

THE EDGE

I am in an upscale, second home luxury property market.  Most of my clients are retirees.  They might not be texting and tweeting but they appreciate the expertise you bring to marketing luxury properties in a tough market.  My next listing appointment will be very different.  I will let them know I am ahead of the competition.

Do you have a marketing strategy for online networking?

What is your juggling act?
