HOCKEY ITS OUR GAME in Airdrie Alberta
The City of Airdrie Alberta boasts two Ice Arenas for recreational use the Ron Ebbesen Arena which features two ice surfaces , the Blue side has a seating capacity of 460 and the Red side with a seating Capacity of 200 this facility also has a 150 seat licensed viewing lounge with food service located upstairs and a Pro Skate Shop. The Ron Ebbesen Arena is home to the Airdrie Minor Hockey Association Airdrie Ringette Association, and Airdrie Skating Club. Our other Arena is the Plainsmen Arena with only one ice surface indoors ut also has an outdoor ice surface in the winter which is ideal for recreational skating and some pickup games of Shinny.
Sounds like enough ice surfaces for hockey and Recreational skating? well, get this, there's even more:
Boarded rinks:
• Bayside
• Big Springs Crescent (in the green space)
• East Lake Park (beside the Scout Hall)
• Plainsmen Arena
Snow bank rinks:
• Fletcher Park
• Plainsmen Arena
• Town and Country Centre Park
That should be enough right? Not yet!
The Parks Department clears skating surfaces on Nose Creek Pond, Summerhill, Waterstone and East Lake dependent on ice depth and condition. The Parks Department maintains all the outdoor rinks on a daily basis, weather permitting. Nose Creek and East Lake are maintained on a weekly basis.
