Doug and I (Marjorie) moved to Chestermere in 1991 with our young family. Although we were involved in real estate development we were not licensed realtors at that time. I earned my real estate license in 1992 and utilized my sales and marketing skills to market our own condominium projects. That same year I sold my first listing in Chestermere. Doug joined my venture earning his license the following year (1993) and we have been working together, sharing our passion for selling homes ever since.

The Chestermere market has seen many ups and downs during the past 17 years. We have seen many realtors come and gobut through it all, we have been consistently successful at selling our listings and helping our buyers understand what living in Chestermere is all about.

For six years, we ran MaxWell-Your Next Home from our home. Needing to expand, we wanted to move the business to an outside office but found that there was limited commercial space available in Chestermere. So we joined another real estate company that had space in Chestermere. This worked for a year until the company tripled the rate that they charged, which ended the working relationship.

We were working at full capacity with our client base and found many of the buyers calling did not have a realtor representing them. Coincidentally, Doug and I ran into an old school mate whose sons, Paul and Ryan Kautz, were in real estate and lived near Chestermere. Apart from being licensed realtors, the brothers held economics degrees from the University of Calgary and managed their co-owned construction and home renovation company. After getting to know the brothers, we felt confident that they would treat our referred buyers as they themselves would want to be treated.

So we gave Paul and Ryan Kautz a few buyers to work with. They helped the buyers and the home-sellers had their homes shown by qualified agents, who knew the area well. It proved to be a successful situation that worked for everyone. Since we all liked working together, I renewed my broker's license and we formed Chestermere Real Estate. Wanting to remain based in Chestermere, we purchased a 1.5-acre parcel bordering Rainbow Falls and the canal. Our new office space provides us with room to employ a full time assistant, while presenting a quiet and comfortable place to write offers and meet clients. There is one thing that we would like to make clear. Our expansion is not about making more money; it is about servicing Chestermere's real estate market better. Doug and I are enjoying working with a new generation of realtors that share our enthusiasm for caringly helping our neighbours buy and sell homes in Chestermere and area.
