Hackers..Hacked into my G-Mail account. This is real and real inconvenient

By
Real Estate Agent with Eastwood Homes

Good Morning. Last night hackers were able to get into my gmail account and change my password. I have no access to the account anymore. This is horrible for an agent with about 800 contacts. I apologize for the inconvenience you may have experienced from this. They have sent an e-mail to all my contacts stating I am stranded in Ireland. This is not true. Unfortunetly I do not have all my contacts e-mail address's to notify them. I suggest you have a back up e-mail where things are forwarded and change your passwords on a regular basis. My new e-mail is ecochicagent@gmail.com

they have also hacked into my linked in account.

That is a horrible experience but at least you were smart enough to have a back up e-mail account.  I do as well.

Good Luck!

Best thing is to use your website's webmail account and have it pull down into Outlook or some desktop mail program.

My son's Yahoo account was hacked into last week.  All his contacts got an email with a link to some phony out of the country pharmacy.    He closed that account and I recommended him getting a Gmail account.  I'll have to let him know about this also.

I have my emails stored in a text file and in a couple of programs I use like Act and Outlook.  This was helpful when I had a horrid trojan virus 3 weeks ago and had to literally reformat my hard drive because nothing else would get rid of it - and I have Norton Security Suite - updated daily.

What a horrible experience Gerri, I know the feeling, it's happened to me in the past.  Great advice to all of us.  Thanks.

Yuk! As a gmail user this is almost terrifying! I also use Outlook as a backup but losing access to google apps is really scary. Please keep us informed, especially if you figure out how they did it. PS - I hope you enjoyed your trip to Ireland. :)

That is terrifying. That is one thing I never would have worried about.  How do you get it resolved?

Gerri, it seem no account is really safe from hackers. I hope you get it resolved.

I was able to save my linked in account and change the passwords. I alos have outlook and top producer all is not totally lost but inconvenient is an under statement.

Some Canadian Pharmacy hacked into my yahoo and aol accounts.  This is horrible.  I have had those accts for years and never experienced the likes of this.  I change my passcode on the regular, but now I feel as if I need to shut down the accounts.  This happened to my boyfriend a while back and Yahoo failed to do anything.  I feel violated and upset that my contacts were sent this garbage.

Gerri,  I'm going to check out Act.  I'm searching Active Rain for solutions to my hacked gmail account.
