Southern Maine June 2007 Housing Statistics

Alas it seems the spring housing market slump continues to effect Maine as it does the rest of the nation.  Housing transactions were off about 18% for the 2nd month in a row for the 4 counties I follow, Cumberland, York, Sagadahoc and Lincoln.  Total transaction volume for southern Maine property was off by about 200 units and things don't seem to be pointing towards any sort of improvement.  The for sale signs continue to pile up and price reduction after price reduction seem to be the norm.  Average prices for the month of June were down in all the counties except for York where 10 homes that sold for over a million skewed the results higher.  The net result after adjusting for the higher prices in York is a  5-7% overall price drop for southern Maine real estate in June.
