D Day Training In Oregon?
That's correct.
The D Day landing that took place on the beaches of Normandy on June 6th 1944, has roots in Oregon!
Troops stationed at Camp White, where White City is now, were trained for the Normandy Invasion!
There were special training areas of the camp that were purposely built to resemble the obstacles to be encountered at Normandy.
A thank you is deserved for the men who fought the battle, and also to those whose preparation and training helped save American lives.
