Oxford was originally named after its Township which was given its name by Otis C. Thompson. Located along M-24, in northern Oakland County, Oxford has a population near 3,000. Once known as the "Gravel Pit Capital of The World", now most of the pits have turned into lakes and provide many recreational activities.
