North End - A Great Boston Neighborhood

North End, also known as ‘Little Italy' of Boston, is Boston's safest region to live. In fact, North End in the most thriving and vibrant neighborhood compared to any other neighborhood Massachusetts. North End is the most historic region of Boston. North End's Italian influence is attributed to late 1800s era when Italian immigrants had come to town to build the new State House Italian immigrants were skilled masons in mosaic making and laying tile floor, and setting stained glass. The construction took about two to three years and the Italians started living temporarily in North End. Before Italian immigrants, the neighborhood was called a peninsula with lower socio-economic people living in average lifestyle. Irish immigrants were the first to settle in North End in the early 1800, followed by Italians. Early 20th century saw immigrants from Europe settle in the neighborhood.

North End houses some of the very old buildings still intact in Boston. The Old North Church which helped revolutionaries find out that British troops were approaching through water. The neighborhood holds some beautiful areas lined with cobblestone streets and squares. North End is most popular for its set of Italian restaurants and shops. The neighborhood has a lovely park, Christopher Columbus Park at its South edge. The park holds excellent water views and is a place to relax.

North End real estate showcases the rich architectural magnificence from all the periods of American history. The neighborhood is the best place for anyone who wants to settle and enjoy a luxury home with latest renovations. In addition, BRA (Boston Redevelopment Authority) is striving hard for the overall development of the neighborhood. As BRA's next focus is on both North End and Waterfront neighborhood, the North End realty would witness an overall growth. I love the North End.  I moved to New Hampshire from San Francisco 13 years ago.. when I get homesick for the North End of San Francisco, I just visit the North end of Boston!

Joan, it is such a great neighborhood and has faired so well during this economic downturn.  I have a client who bought there in 2007 at the height and will still likely make some money in selling!
