Christmas is a happy and joyous time for most of us. But there are those who are struggling, who may not have food to eat or family to spend this day with.
My husband, Danny, reminded me of this fact this morning as I was looking forward to a a day filled with good food and precious time with family.
My husband went to a local diner early this morning as is his custom and encountered a man sitting outside the door. Danny said hello as he walked into the restaurant. After a while, the waitress behind the counter went to the door and said to the man sitting outside that it was ok to come in. The man went to a table and ordered toast and coffee.
Danny later asked the waitress if the man was homeless and she said yes he is. Danny gave her $20 and told her he would pay for the man's toast and coffee and if there was any change to give it to the man. She was surprised by Danny's generosity.. but I'm not.
It's just another way that Danny reaches out in his own way to help others and pay it forward. It may not seem like a lot but I know it made Danny feel good that he could help someone and I am sure his gift was appreciated.
And it encourages me to help others along the way - to friend and strangers alike.
Merry Christmas to all !
