Happy New Year - Chinese New Year February 3, 2011

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Aloha Kai Real Estate

Chinese New Year February 3, 2011I am part Chinese (Cantonese.) My maiden name is Ah Hoy Tam and my paternal grandfather was the president of the Tom Society in Honolulu, Hawai'i. Unfortunately I am not fluent in Cantonese or Mandarin.

This Thursday is the start of a new year. That is the Chinese (Lunar) New Year.

In Hawai'i we say Kung Hee Fat Choy. May this year be full of blessings and good luck. Have a prosperous new year!

I also use the start of the Chinese New Year to update my goals as well as update my business plan... after I update my business plan according to the Gregorian calendar :)

One personal goal is to learn Cantonese and speak and write it fluently.

Kung Hee Fat Choy!

I will be wearing red for good luck :)

Hi Lana,

Happy New Year!  This is a time when my family gets together and go to a chinese restaurant for the new year feast and give little red envelopes to the little ones.  Learning to speak mandarin again is top on my list as well.  Kung hay fat choy and xin nian kuai le!

Cheers from Lake Tahoe,

~Grace Yee
