Social Networking = Ultimate Support Group
Today was a particularly rough day for me in the real estate world. You know the kind of day where nothing huge goes wrong, but a lot of little things just leave you emotionally raw? That kind of day. In my frustration I commented on Facebook that "Some days you just want to start driving and not look back".
The response from my friends on facebook was truly uplifting. From sweet to funny, and sometimes from people I didn't expect a comment from at all. So, today got me thinking. Has social networking really becoming the ultimate support group? I think the answer is yes.
Before social networking, you might call up a good friend to vent or have a shoulder to cry on. Sometimes that friend may be busy, on vacation, or otherwise unavailable. Through the advent of social media, we have a huge group of friends available. Somebody is always on, and there's almost always someone to lend some support when things get tough. Are we better off as a society because of it? I think so.
In many ways, ActiveRain is also a support group. You have a huge community of professionals to learn from, vent to, and bounce ideas around with. I also think that ActiveRain attracts many of the brightest, most positive and forward thinking agents from across the nation. I look forward to logging in everyday. After all, this may be the most vibrant and uplifting support group of all!
