Why Should I Blog?
That was the main question today, September 24th, at the meeting of the Keystone Council of CRBs (Certified Residential Brokerage Managers) at the PAR (Pennsylvania Association of Realtors) meetings. A small but influential group, a very few of whom already blog, were asking why blog, when to blog, and how to blog. Why blog? To establish yourself as an expert in your field--whether it is real estate in general, or a specific area of real estate. I blog to bring students to my classes. My RSPS (Resorts and Second Property Specialists) blog to bring people to their area, where they are the local real estate expert. Blogging is picked up by search engines and helps to establish you as an authority on a topic--whether it is the price of real estate in East Podunk, or how convoluted your state's agency laws are. Blogging is cutting edge. Planning on doing business with highly educated Gen X and Gen Y consumers? Blog--that's where their eyeballs are. When should you blog? As often as possible, without becoming tedious, repeating yourself, or, giving, as the kids say "Way too much information". How do you blog? If you can type an email, you can blog.
