I don't feel your pain

Real Estate Agent with RETIRED 200305001

I don't feel your pain, I can only try to imagine it. A competitor friend of mine in another office is losing his custom built home. This home is an upper end home built about 4 years ago in the fat times. It has an excellent lake veiw. He was able to bring it back from the edge last year but not this time. I might mention he is one of the top producers of this area.

The economy has got him too. As a friend I am mourning the loss with him. I just don't feel the pain as I haven't been there. I also hope my turn never comes. He does have a new understanding of what some of his former clients have been thru. How do I help?  Any one been here before, trying to come up with comforting words?

There is nothing you can say. I'm in the process of selling one of my past principal brokers homes that is in foreclosure. She too was hit by the economy and bought at the peak and the best and most expensive house. I love her to death, but she bought within her means at the time. But in sales, you can't count on anything.

Todd: The same story for this guy, he is a penny pincher and times changed. Before I got my license I did 9 deals with him.

Not much you can say.. Most in that situation just want some understanding and for folks to not "look down " on them.. Good luck with that.. It can be a touchy situation..

That is a hard one!  My sister had to take up bankruptcy through life's circumstances and it helped for me to be a listening ear.  That is harder here though as I am quite close to my sister.
