To The Girl With No Name Who Knows How I Like My Green Tea...
I remember reading an interesting quote from my gal pal Jackie on her fitness blog that stated, "Most of the time, the barrier between “you” and “you getting what you want” is YOU." It made me think of the anonymous quote, "Determination, patience and courage are the only things needed to improve any situation."
To change yourself is scary. It will take a tremendous amount of determination, patience and courage because real change more often than not means you are going to take yourself out of the expectations and comfort zones of others to make yourself more comfortable with you.
To change yourself is dangerous. It requires acknowledging what your issues are and then creating a plan of action to deal with each point of order honestly. Sometimes, the danger lies in our ability to lie to ourselves just as much or more than to others. We sometimes think our abilities are more than what they are or that we don't need help or shouldn't change at all...
Coaching is a nebulous process requiring that we acknowledge we want and need help to change something about ourselves. The purpose of having someone train us is so we can improve. We're trusting another person to teach us how to learn something new and useful. When the synergy between people involved in the life lesson executed is positive in a creative, fair, efficient and effective manner, it usually empowers another person to start leading an evolved / involved life.
To start something new all you have to do is start where you are and simply try. A good coach is one that will try to teach you that you can live a life of infinite potential. Infinite potential doesn't mean perfect, but it does denote a positive step forward to something better...
You are responsible for your mindset, not your personal trainer, family, frenemies, enemies or friends.
You are responsible for manipulating your schedule so that you have adequate time to take care of your priorities. If you have a coach like Jackie then your first lesson will be about YOUR WILLINGNESS TO TRY.
To quote Jackie, "The journey can’t start without that first step. And the journey won’t start if you believe you CAN’T take that first step … And if the journey won’t start, there’s not much chance of ever getting to your destination, is there?"
Yesterday was a baby step for me... I jogged 3 miles and collected lots of eye candy.
I had a wonderful day. :-)
