Who knew? There’s so much more to New Mexico than green chiles, lots of sunshine, desert and all that our desert communities have to offer. New Mexico actually has a “rich heritage of communities that have embraced the enchantment of the stars!” I recently had the privilege of attending a brief presentation about the New Mexico Space Trail - interesting.
I live in Alamogordo, New Mexico which is where the New Mexico Museum of Space History is actually located along with several other historical map markers. Some of our very nearby communities offer some of the best star gazing and astronomy vantage points in the world. There’s even a New Mexico Space Trail - which is “a project of the New Mexico Museum of Space History supported by the International Space Hall of Fame, the New Mexico Humanities Council, the National Endowment for the Arts and the City of Alamogordo Promotion Board”. Whew...there’s a lot of credit that goes into putting this enchanted tour across New Mexico together. There are 52 points across the state which make up this historical project that ties together the cultural and historical legacies to the future of space exploration.
