DHIMMITUDE - What Does it Mean?

By
Real Estate Agent with Century 21 Birchwood Realty, Inc.

According to Wikipedia.org

Dhimmitude is a neologism first found in French denoting an attitude of concession, surrender and appeasement towards Islamic demands. It is derived by adding the productive suffix -tude to the Arabic language adjective dhimmi, which literally means protected and refers to a non-Muslim subject of a sharia law state

Web definitions

  • Dhimmitudeis a neologism first found in French denoting an attitude of concession, surrender and appeasement towards Islamic demands. ...

The reason I bring this up is I have been reading some very interesting blogs as to how this relates to Obama's Health Care Policy, and, the way the definition is being interpreted.

For example, one blog states - Dhimmitude is the Muslim system of controlling non-muslim populations conquered through jihad.

If this is true, than what is it doing in the wording of any part of this New Health Care Bill??

Please check this out for yourselves, maybe I am misunderstanding or misinterpreting the word myself.

Karl, my buddy, Bill and Hill demonstrated that you CANNOT always get what you want, but if you try, sometimes, you just might find, you get what you need.

What they wanted was health care all at once.  It did not fly.  So it has been brought about piecemeal, culminating in our hideous new "health" bill.

There is no evidence yet that this will not apply to Muslims.  But it is their doctrine NOT to participate in such.  The Amish got an exemption from SS after demonstrating to the gubment that they did not need it as a group.  They took care of their own.

If you don't think Muslims will use that exemption for their purposes you are naive, my friend.

You are looking at the proverbial camel nose in the tent.  And a VERY APT metaphorical proverb it is!

Stay tuned.

Karal, you honestly believe what you are saying, so for me to run down a list of "evidence" would be feudal;  Georgia and Jay have laid it out pretty clearly. There is no dissuading you from your opinion.

When I was a little girl my mother told me that 3 people can read a book and characterize it 3 very different ways, depending on their religious and political beliefs.  The good thing is it makes for interesting debates.

I really think some of your opinions (from this post and others) underestimate certain factions in our society.  I would rather be prepared for the worst, then be taken advantage of or worse.

The bill is so long and nobody even read it before they voted on it.  Just typical Washington nonsense.

Jay, my friend, I too like The Stones, but in this case the Muslims are not a beast of burden on the system nor do they want to put you under thier thumb...there is no evidence that Muslims will use or have even thought of applying for this exemption.

Ibrahim Hooper of the Council on American-Islamic Relations: "I've never even heard it brought up as an issue, I have health insurance. We give health insurance to our employees. Every Muslim group I know of does the same thing." Hooper said that he has seen some Muslims raise religious objections to life insurance, but not health insurance, and that, in fact, providing health coverage is very much in line with Islamic ideals of social justice.

Karl - you are a very, very naive boy.  Their very doctrine is to put the world under their thumb (THAT is the definition of the word islam - submit, or die - checked out Darfur lately?).  They move into a country, assimilate and make friends, build up their numbers and then one by one make changes to the law.  You don't see that happening here?  Are you really THAT naive?

And I went to school with "Ibrahim" when he was Dougie Hooper and don't buy a word that comes out of his mouth.  It, the proverbial, all-inclusive "it," is NEVER what it appears with him.  Yes he has "health insurance" because that is all he can get now.  When it becomes nationalized he will be exempted, by his religion.  Having it forced onto him by a state is outside his beliefs.

There is no use in talking to people who can't see the forest from the trees - facts are meaningless - only perception is reality to liberals. Jay, Karl doesn't like people being "uncivil" - facts demostrate that you are calling him names. Be nice to the naive boy, he might cry to Obama.

Oh my!  I give you credit Karl for having the convictions to stand against the oposition to your opinions.  Come away from the "Dark Side" and be as strong an advocate for being a realist.  Look under that dark mask of Libralism and see what is being hidden.  Remember, Rome fell from within.

The ONLY facts are that NO American Muslim group as EVER applied for any exemption of this kind....EVER. If you'd like, I can provide the list of groups that have...they're all Christian. Could American Muslims apply? Sure, just like any other group in America.  Is it likely they'll get 'approved?' No, if we go by the history of past exemptions.

The rest is pure, unadulterated speculation, Period.

Lois, I'm interested to learn why you think Rome fell.

Lois - I don't believe it is a opinion but almost a cult like submission to the dark side of socialism and communism - steal from those that have and give to the "less" fortunate of society - but somehow the money never gets to where promised - the poor stay poor and those so called middle class have lost what they have - the ultra rich never lose what they have because they control politicans -

Karl, you are still a very naive boy!

And Rome fell because spending time and money on entertainment and pop culture became more important than its borders!  Sounds familiar doesn't it?

Karl, there is more at stake here than Obamacare.  If you don't know the history about the fall of Rome than I truelly can understand your lack of grasping the issues we are facing today.  The Roman Empire is gone, and so will we be if we don't learn from history.

I don't think it will make a difference if Karl does follow the link, Georgia.  His mind is made up and there in no room for a dissenting though.

Wow...Lois, the site you reference has ZERO credibility.  FactCheck.org was, in FACT, endorsed by none other than Dick Cheney.

This is a real problem for Americans, the inability to determine fact from speculation and/or opinion.

And the reason I asked your opinion about the the 'Fall of Rome' is that historians have been studying it for a hundreds of years and are still unable to come to a true consensus...I was just wondering what YOUR opinion on the matter may be.

To reiterate, this is a real problem for Americans, the inability to determine fact from speculation and/or opinion...or MYTH and FOLKLORE.

FactCheck.org is located at The University of Pennsylvania...(you know, one of those Ivy League schools there people like the DuPonts went and list of CEO's longer than your arm attended)

The Annenberg School for Communication is the home to FactCheck, an award-winning nonprofit that monitors the factual accuracy of political statements.

The Annenberg School for Communication is the communications school at the University of Pennsylvania. The school was established in 1958 by Wharton School's (one of the, if not the best business schools in the country) alum Walter Annenberg.

Over the years the school has grown to become the top school for communications in the country and one of the most prestigious institutions for communications internationally.

Karl, you must have me confused with someone else; I don't endorse any one site.  I make a point of looking to many sites, even when one is given to me as a reference; just like I don't watch one news channel, so I can get both sides of an issue.  That may be the biggest difference with us, I assume if a link in suggested, by me or anyone else, the reader does their own "due diligence".  Again, check your facts.  And just for the record, Karl, I don't care where someone went to school, or if they went to school.  Graduating from an Ivy League school doesn't garentee common sense; most people come by it naturally.

So, Karl, is this fact, fiction or folklore?  (You won't find it at Factcheck...)  Check this link:

By the way, did you not see my answer to your Rome question?

And do you know where many of the Ivy League schools got their seed money?  In particular, Brown University?  Careful, buddy!

While this is a highly entertaining debate, it is fruitless.  By the time Obamacare legally comes into effect, the Markets will have forced our country into an austerity phase where there is neither any more money, or credit with which to take on this program.

Jay, we both know know that the Fall of Rome has many, many answers, but the least of them was the myth that it was caused by so-called debauchery...the more accurate reason was that the empire had in fact split into two different entities...and yes, they did have trade deficits and budgetary debt.

BTW, I love a good ghost story...did you know that The Amityville Horror was shot in Toms River...my office location.

Lois...don't make too many assumptions, I read and/or consume information from a variety of sites, including, but not limited to:  The Wall Street Journal, The Financial Times, The NY Times, NPR, The Atlantic, The New Republic, Rolling Stone, NRO, The Christian Science Monitor, Esquire, The Independent, McClatchy Newspapers, and...I love me some "Morning Joe."  See...all fairly reputable and fairly even handed.

And the reason I included the 'history' of FactCheck is that it's academic setting is important...it's not about creating false dichotomies that try and manipulate the reader...it's just stating known fact.

I know there are many historical theories Karl!  That's what makes history so fun - there are no answers!  But your reasons are mine - entertainment and borders!  Didn't know that about Amityville!  Have you been to the house?  Is it there?

And the ghost in my story is me, sitting on the roof, inspecting some problem windows.  It was then that I discovered that thermal reflections in windows have a cooler appearance, like a ghost!  And I invented the ghost blogs, with the main star, Mosby.

I have to say, I have never heard of the New York Times or Morning Joe (MSNBC) being "fairly even handed".  If they were their readers and views would be much larger (I won't get into recent Poles).  I watch MSNBC to get the Left view, although now that it has new ownership it may have to tone down it's rhetoric a bit. As far as the New York Times, the conservatives side is almost nonexistent.  Neither is what I would call "even handed"
