The Oregon "SuperD" Bike Race Series Hits Hood River This Weekend!
Oregon, and Hood River specifically, are known as national leaders in bike racing. For the second year in a row, Hood River will play host to the Oregon Super D Bike Race series, which is already gaining a reputation as one of the top events in the country. To simplify, a Super D / Enduro race can best be described as a mountain biking, cross-country, down hill bike race where the racers reach speeds of up to 35 mph. It's an extreme, daring sport
Our mountains here in Hood River were practically made for this race. The course drops almost 3,000 vertical feet in 7 miles, while offering about 400 feet of climbing. Talk about an adrenaline rush! It's a super fast, challenging race through a diverse network of technical trails that will test these expert riders' skills in the extreme! It's also one of the most scenic rides to be found. The series will continue after Hood River in Bend, Oakridge and Sandy Ridge.
Racing isn't all there is to this series. The tour's goal is to celebrate not just racers, but riders of every age and skill level. Expect kick off and post race parties, a demo-zone, fine dining in Hood River, live music, the NW School of Freeridedual pump track for the Urban Dual Slalom on Saturday and a Dirt Jump Expo in town after the Super D on Sunday. There is a variety of lodging available or camping will be available at the bottom of Post Canyon, one of the venues.
