We all hear the doom and gloom of the market nationwide. But the market in Jonesboro, AR always seems to be an exception to the rule.
While Craighead County and Jonesboro are not listed among the top five in a recent housing market report from the Arkansas Realtors Association, the housing market here remains strong, as it has for two decades.
We don't seem to be experiencing the catastrophic price drops in Arkansas that seem to be the norm in other markets around the nation. However, prices aren't rising as quickly as they were a couple of years ago. Inventories have increased and that creates opportunities for buyers, with more homes on the market than there have been for some time. Local interest rates are low and remain steady.
An August report of the Arkansas Realtors Association shows a decline of more than 18 percent, however, the year-to-date figures show a 1.3 percent upward trend.
