Now, I know that this isn't a venue for a real inspection and I know there may be some liability issues with even commenting on just a photo without having seen the actual property, but I wondered if I could get a general idea about cracks in foundations. I've heard there is a rule about vertical cracks and horizontal cracks - one being not as bad, the other being more of a problem. What about a crack like this? This is in a basement, beginning at one of the egress windows and going down to the floor.
Don't worry - there will be a complete inspection by an independent home inspector, and if anything is said in this post it will not be used as a formal answer to any questions or perceived as an actual inspection on a property, it's just a general question about cracks and what they may or may not mean for a property.
