"The End of the World is Coming Dec 21,2012 so I can't even think of buying a house." That is a response I got yesterday when talking with a past clients sister. WOW was all I could think of. (I never heard of that one).
I can't even imagine stopping everything in life due to what is "predicted" from this date. It is regarded as the end-date of a 5,125-year-long cycle in the Mesoamerican Long Count calendar.
I was talking with her for over an hour and talked to her about IF The End of the World is Coming Dec 21,2012 then she should take chances and do things in life that she always wanted to do. In our talking, I asked her if she could do anything without concerns about health, money and time what would she do..... She said travel the world. So, my question to her was if The End of the World is Coming Dec 21,2012 then why not go after her dreams of traveling the world. She told me it's to late and we have only 15 months to live. I asked her WHY she would NOT go after her dreams if she KNEW she only had 15 months left on this earth. She is to scared to make changes in life now. Now I don't believe in the end of the world in my life time but talking to her and trying to get her to see that IF the end is coming she needs to stop worrying and start living her dreams.
After talking with her for over an hour, she DID decide to look into buying a house (we are going to look at a few houses on Saturday before my hockey game) but is still to worried to travel the world (which is her dream). My mortgage broker told her she could buy a house in the $400,000 range. She has $125,000 in her bank account. Is it wrong to try talking her into using that money to travel the world instead of buying a house? I talked to a co-worker at the office and he told me to get her to buy a house, and I'm in the business to do so but I still feel that it is the right thing to do to have her travel the world if that is what she TRULY wants before The End of the World is Coming Dec 21,2012.
There are more important things to help people with than selling them a house, but on Dec 22,2012 when she wakes up and sees that the world is still here I know she will be happy with her decision BUT will she regret buying a house instead of traveling the world? That is something I will not know till after Dec 21, 2012.
