Real Estate can be stressful on your family. As a matter of fact, it can easily be one of the top 5 most stressful events in life. No, I'm not referring to a family relocating to a new town, leaving behind their friends and loved ones, changing jobs, and venturing into the new unknown. I'm referring to our careers in Real Estate.
As professionals, our attentions are being pulled in many directions. Pulling our attentions away from one of the most important relationships in our life, that is, with our spouse. No matter how busy we become, we MUST support the ones who support us. If your spouse is upset with you because you are going to be out late again tonight, to show houses or a listing appointment. You have already missed dinner with the family once this week, and unfortunately you are going to have to make that dreaded phone call and tell her the same thing again. Instead, why not try this. First, tell them that you Love them. Second, reassure them that you need them. And last, show them.
Its taken 11 years of marriage for me to realize this. So the next time you start to feel a little resentment because you have to pay your dues to success, remember how you got there. Remember who helped you get to where you are today. Put away the sins of Pride and follow those 3 simple steps.
