Historic Willamette General Store, West Linn, OR 10/26/11
I was excited when I saw that huge for rent banner removed that once covered the front of the old Willamette General Store..and in it's place was a newly fixed up and remodeled interior that has now revitalized this once run down space.
New owner Ryan Dato and family took this place and transformed it into a space that just calls you to come inside. In a time where those big stores are prevelant, it's so nice to see a store like this open up. The outside was spiffed up but still maintains the 96 year old historic charm while the inside has a mixture of old time charm and coffee house feel.
Walking in the front door your eyes take in the nice hardwood floors, the huge humidor and cigar selection as well as wine. The other side are a couch, tables and chairs that are now frequented by locals enjoying a cup of coffee from the coffee bar while reading the paper...or working on their computer. In the back section I perused a wide selection of sundries that would entice any kid wanting to spend their allowance.
This place is not just a general store, it's also a deli, has full coffee bar, bakery, that also has a really stocked hardware section, carries over 100 types of beer AND also sells Traeger BBQ's.
Why was I there? Well, I needed to pick up some tea bags for my MIL, so instead of going to the supermarket, the Willamette General Store was perfect being right up the road. I love this place...and by the amount of people that are sitting outside when it first opened in August, many others do too!
Located in the Historic Downtown Willamette section of West Linn at 1720 Willamette Falls Drive, the Willamette General Store is a great asset to West Linn. Stop by and check it out!
