Triple Play Ends in Atlantic City (NJ) Today ... from Ocean City, New Jersey

The Tuesday through Thursday three-state pre-winter/pre-holiday Realtor convention brings agents from Pennsylvania, New York, and New Jersey to a nice and quiet mid-week location in Atlantic City (NJ).  What started out as a New Jersey-only convention for many many years has now grown into one of the major locations to hear national speakers across the country.  Although I don't know this answer, I doubt that there is a larger gathering except for the national convention.

I always joke that it snows at this convention ... our first NJ snow storm (light or heavy) almost every year ... it missed us today with mild temps and only rain ... but it did snow again a bit further north across the eastern part of the United States.

This was the first year for New Jersey taking courses with credits to meet our assigned 12-credit program.  It worked out fairly well ... although the credit courses tended to be much more crowded.  And it did bring more agents to the convention ... for example, I saw more Ocean City agents in AC than ever before ... and I've attended for about the last 15 years.

As I walked through the halls, sat and had a cup of tea waiting for my next session, or checked my I-Pad for incoming emails, or even read the morning paper ... I began to laugh.  I wonder what it would be like to have a job where all you did five days a week was attend workshops and take notes, meet other like-minded people, grab a fast lunch between sessions, rush out at the end of the day to get back to your hotel room ... or in my case, drive back to the next island.

I guess it would depend on what you were being asked to do with this new-found information, skills, whatever.  But as I walked around ... I wondered about all of this.  Certainly, the level of learning that takes place here was quite well-done in terms of the speakers.  Of course, one can't determine how much will be applied.  That is a wait-and-see factor.  But coming from an educational first career, I am always amazed at how strong the speakers are ... and that the fact being that most of them continue to practice their real estate craft in some way along with their presentation craft.  That doesn't happen too much in the real world education area.  Maybe that is why so much of what we learn here is practical, applicable, and truly meaningful!!!             dap

Celebrating 25 Years in Real Estate!

Hi, Dustin!  We should have planned an Active Rain 'meet up' while some of us were down here in AC.  The amount of information from these classes is overwhelming.  I actually sat down on Thurs. night and made a list of the Top 10 action items that I want to implement.  A long time ago I heard that most people who attend conferences/seminars never change a thing when they go back to work.  I try very hard not to let that happen.

Have a wonderful 2012.....and a productive one, too!
