New to Blogging ....

By

Ok,here I go... I am breaking the mental block I have w/blogging.  I seem to think I either won't have time to do this, so why start or no one is really going to want to hear what I have to say. Nonetheless, here goes....

So, my biggest obstacle these days is with my website - submission and metatags.  There are so many marketing firms that bombard me with information, but to be frank, I would like to know how to do it myself to know it is being done.

Is there a way to submit your websites to Google? Yahoo?  I had one company tell me that an individual could not submit their own site, is this correct?  I know there are alot of you that are alot smarter than me out there!  I really appreciate your experience and knowledge ....

Thanks in advance!

Misty - Join the seo group, then edit your post and make sure it appears there. They will help.

Welcome Misty!  Well, I don't have an answer for you since while I have 2 blogs, I don't have a website, I wanted to welcome you to ActiveRain.

There are technology groups in AR that you should post this question to.  You do have to join the group to post to it, but if you are trying to learn the technology behind your website, then that would be a good group to join.  You also might want to join the "Newbies Group" while you are joining groups, there you will find a lot of answers to how to blog on AR.

Have fun!

Hi Deborah,

Thanks so much!  I didn't even know that you joined specific groups - I hadn't ventured that far out yet!  I appreciate the guidance!

Misty - I am old enough to be your dad. I just mastered LOL, I don't know what SEO is but I do know it has to do with websites and how well people on the interweb find you. Joining a group is easy. Click groups and then look at the list, click on one then click on join group. Then you can direct your post to specific folks.

Misty, I am old enough to be you mom....(thanks John for the idea).  I didn't know the SEO group existed either so I'm going now to join it.

Welcome to Active Rain. You will love it and meet so many wonderful people.  I have only been a member for a month and I AM addicted.

Misty - WELCOME to AR!  SEO = Search Engine Optimization - there is a group on AR just for that!  Also, Karen George, who probably is a part of the SEO group, writes an awesome blog.  Check her out at http://activerain.com/blogs/azmortgagelady  She's very helpful too if you need some help.  Good luck!

So, here I am ... 8 months later and still haven't gotten into a "habit" of blogging. I enjoy reading others a great deal, but not so much with my own. This may be like Starbucks ... some drinks are just not for everyone ... maybe my place in the "blog world" is just ro read the great blurbs every one else puts out for sharing ... not quite to venture into writing??? Just my pondering ....
