Color of the Year (Perspectives on Real Estate and More From a Home Staging Pro)
Okay, yes, as a child I had a bright orange and yellow home at the Beach. But the point is something like color can show your space off as trendy and up to date even when used just as an accessory color. So orange it up for the year!
Color of the Year (Perspectives on Real Estate and More From a Home Staging Pro)
According to their web site, “The PANTONE® name is known worldwide as the standard language for color communication from designer to manufacturer to retailer to customer.” Frankly, until a couple of years ago, I’d never heard of them. These days, knowing that PANTONE® names a color of the year and knowing other current trends is part of the job.
At first, I thought, “Home Staging is about neutralizing a space so I’m not concerned with trends.” BIG MISTAKE! A big part of Home Staging is showing how up to date and relevant the house is. Sometimes to send that message, you’re got to get trendy.
I’m not suggesting you paint a room this year’s color of the year, Tangerine Tango. After all, the color is really bold and doesn’t necessarily lend itself to a neutral design. Go ahead and pick a lovely neutral color for the walls, but use a bold trendy color in accessories. Pillows, throws, vases, and art can easily be used to draw attention to a home’s positive features. Keep in mind that every house is different and that just because a color or technique works in another Staged house, the design for your house should be specific to your house.
The message here is that if you are going to prepare your house for sale, it is important that you know what buyers are looking for and how you will present your house in order to spark their imaginations. Whether you’re incorporating a trendy color here and there, changing kitchen countertops, or adding a mud room, the move should be toward giving the house the up to date look buyers are now demanding. If the idea of creating such a space is a bit intimidating, we should talk. I look forward to creating a Home Staging design specifically for your house.
Wishing you a quick sale!
