MEMORIAL DAY 2012
by Donna F. Miller
Should I wear black on Memorial Day
And mourn the dead in a somber way
And visit the fields in which they lay?
Or should my clothes be a patriot's choice
Of red, white and blue as we rejoice
And celebrate freedom with cheerful voice?
Remember the fallen as you choose.
They paid the price; they paid our dues.
We know we're lucky to be in our shoes.
So whether at home, the beach or the mall
Stop on that day and pause to recall.
The American Vet gave a gift to us all.
Freedom forever, we hope and we pray.
Remember the price that they had to pay
Whatever we wear on Memorial Day.
