Dear Friend of SMH,
After six years of fundraising, determination, community support and prayer, The Shepherd’s Maternity House opened its doors just over one year ago to provide “comfort, care, safety, and education to, first-time, homeless pregnant women regardless of race, religion or financial need.”
This letter is written with mixed emotions of joy and sadness. In the short period of time that we have been open, we have shared in the joy of the birth of five babies, seen young women reunited with their own families, and we are currently looking forward to the blessing of three new babies .
However, the first year of operation has been met with necessary expenses far in excess of our revenues. SMH is in financial crisis. Potential grants have not been forthcoming, as most grants will not cover operational expenses. We are in serious jeopardy to continue our program. Because SMH operates as a “safe house”, we must have 24/7 support staff for the women and their babies, the cost of which is extensive.
SMH cannot exist without the help of donors who will take a stand by supportin
g this life saving program.
We ask you to PLEASE consider becoming a “Shepherd”. For less than 28 cents a day, “Shepherds” can help us to continue this much-needed mission. For a commitment of $10 per month, or $100 annually, SHM can continue to serve new mothers and their children, as mothers continue to strive for independent living that will provide a better quality of life for themselves and their children. All donations are tax-deductible.
As we share the spirit of loving hearts with Valentine’s Day on the horizon, we at SMH will be ever so grateful to have your support in continuing our mission by becoming a “Shepherd”. By sharing from your heart, we can continue this Ministry of Life. Please pray for SMH and for us!
