Just blocks away from the Mesquite Historic District, downtown Las Cruces is alive with vibrant energy. Whether you're visiting downtown to have a massage and facial at one of the day-spas, picking through fresh produce at the Las Cruces Farmers Market or browsing through one of many art galleries, downtown Las Cruces is an older part of the city that feels fresh and new again.

What's the Neighborhood Like?

The homes in this Las Cruces neighborhood range from around for a smaller fixer around $80,000 to a completely restored/renovated historic home for as much as around $500,000. The original town of Las Cruces, now referred to as the Mesquite Historic District, was founded in the mid-1800's and is located just east of downtown and is peppered with art galleries, Mexican eateries and restored historic homes. Also in this area are the brand new City Hall and Federal Court House buildings. According to our local MLS data the median home price is $108,000. 

 

What's Going On Near the Downtown Area?

The downtown area is located in the heart of Las Cruces and just west of the Mesquite Street Historic District and original town-site. Every Wednesday and Saturday downtown Main Street is home to the Las Cruces Farmers and Crafts Market. The market is bustling with neighborhood folks who took a walk to buy some fresh produce or to meet a friend for a freshly brewed cup of coffee. Oh, and the market is visited regularly by hundreds of town folks as well - don't want to leave them out of the equation. Just south of Main Street and downtown is El Paseo Road, which directly links the downtown area with New Mexico State University. El Paseo is undergoing its own transformation with plans for revitalization. Also nearby, there are plans for a major new development at the northern end of Main Street at the site of the city's old country club property that would include a new hospital, a hotel, an assisted living facility, a charter school, a plaza, a retail center, townhouses and multi-family housing.
