I see so many articles that deal with the short term values of real estate. Is this a good buy, is now the time to buy, where will values be in 6 months or in a year, all kinds of speculations as to where real estate is heading right now. But, underlying it all, there is the notion that I have always believed in; God stopped making dirt a long time ago, but he hasnt stopped making people. Inevitably, in time, the people will necessarily overtake the dirt. Sure, in the short term, anything can happen, but in the long term, supply and demand dictates that prices can only go in one direction - up.
Everyone has to live somewhere, and as the populations increase, there will be less available. Given the equity build-up, the tax write-offs, and the long term direction, there is no bad time to buy for the long term.
