Although the work on the ground won't start for another two years, the money is there and the paperwork has been signed to build a new bridge between the Metro East and downtown St Louis.
A new bridge will be great for the east side of the Mississippi River. Creating another route to get across the river should greatly cut down on an already convenient drive time from Illinois to St Louis.
With a $640,000,000 price tag, the ground breaking for the bridge and highway realignment should be in 2010 with the bridge ready for use in 2015.
