Ok…I would love to tell you what the deal is about these blog (inbeded) chat programs but I don’t know too much about them. As you can see below, we use Gabbly (just scroll down a little bit and give us a shout-out!) But another popular chat box we keep seeing is Meebo.
What is the difference????
Well, from a very breif initial investigation this is what we found.
Meebo allows direct “Private” connect with the blog owner, or person “signed on” (you have to be signed on with meebo). This means so any and all messages that bloggers write will pop open on the blog owners screen and initiate a private connection.
Pros: Free, you can ask private questions and you can ask people out on dates.
Cons: Meebo owner has to be logged in, less web 2.0.

Gabbly is a tad different. With Gabbly the connection is wide open and public so you dont have to logon and everyone who is reading the blog (or the website) can see the discussion going on….and join in, like our friend NikNik did on Friday.
Pros: Free, wide open, encourages contribution, you can see users logged on, entry noise fun and definitly web 2.0!
Cons: You can not discuss private matters or ask personal questions or ask people out on dates.
