With recent rains inundating New Mexico, Ruidoso recieved a good soaking for the 2nd week in September. Annual rainfall now totals about 16 inches, and at least 6 inches fell this past week, depending on location in Lincoln County.
The Ruidoso River in the Upper Canyon has flowed very heavy as a result of rains on the mountains west of town. We are fortunate that so far the bridges have held, and the river has not left it's banks. Many locals remember the big floods of 2008, where several bridges in Ruidoso were destroyed, and some homes in the Upper Canyon were damaged.
