Spreading out your blog posts

By

Have you setup google alerts for your name? for the topics you frequently blog about? You should.

I've heard that google and the other search engines respond in kind - that is, if you post frequently, they check your site frequently. I wonder if they only pick up the latest post ....

When I post daily, I get a google alert almost every day. Sometimes it comes in 20 minutes. If I wait and post several at once rather than spreading them out, typically I'll still get one or possible two google alerts a day - but not one for every post that day.

So - try and get yourself into the habit of posting a little a lot of the time, rather than a lot a little of the time. habits

I love Google alerts. Interesting observation about how posting several in one day does not produce the same results. Something to look into.

Deborah - it's really easy. You can either google "google alert" or go to http://www.google.com/alerts and then put in whatever terms you want to search.

Debbie - perhaps it's a matter of how deep the spider goes.

Mary - hope it helps.

Sharon, I love Google Alerts.  I've got them set for my name as well as for some other topics of interest.  I'm always pleased when I see one of my blog posts end up there and also find some interesting other things through the alerts.

Brian - I also have set up google alerts for a couple of my competitors locally, so I'll know what they're up to online, and for a couple of people I admire nationally so I can follow their examples. It IS fun to see yourself come up.

So well said.  Read Sharon's best selling new book on the New York Times Best Seller List, "Posting A Little A Lot Of The Time Rather Than A Lot, A Little Of The Time or How To Blog The Right Way" By Sharon Simms, America's Blogging Queen.

The Google Alerts have not been consistant for me.  I also get them for old posts ever now and then.

William - I'm available for guest appearances and book signings, for a price ... always good quotes from you.

Randy - I get the for old posts, too. I find area posts, whether on outside blogs or localism tend to get picked up more rapidly than ones on real estate or general topics.
