How to Import your past Real Estate SALES and LISTINGS into Zillow?

I heard about this via Ross Hair at REM so I checked it out this week.

I called my Zillow Rep, Travis Roberts, or

I was referred to him by our very own Active Rain Blogger Extraordinaire, Margaret Rome.

He promptly emailed back these instructions:


Dear Cheryl,

Introducing: Past Sales on Your Zillow Profile
Giving consumers the ability to see past transactions on both the buy and sell side can be an important consideration in the agent selection process. It's important that you as the agent of record have the ability to add these past sales to your Zillow profile.

Get Started!
It's easy to add past sales to your profile. Just log into Zillow, visit "Agent Hub" and under "Profile," go to the "Past Sales " tab. All editing is done on this page. In some cases, you will also receive an email from Zillow asking you to confirm additional past listing sale information.

Much like getting reviews, we believe posting past sales is a key to your success as a Premier Agent. Watch this video to get started or simply call your account manager with any questions.

What I then learned?

They are happy to enter your past sales data for you for a limited time. They need the following fields:

  • Property Address (including ZIP)
  • Sold Date
  • Sale Price
  • Who you represented (Seller, Buyer or Both)

If you have an Excel spreadsheet or other document, email it to If it's a Google spreadsheet, just send us an email at that same address and they'll get back in touch with you to arrange access.

OR, in Matrix in the DC Area, go to Cross Property Section to key up your own ID number as a Listing Agent then also the ID as a Buyer's Agent. Directly send these separate two lists to . I sent them as an email list and also as a Word Document but did not see a CSV option. You will then receive an email, upon submission, that says it takes a few weeks to process because of all the requests.

I got most of these directions off the Zillow site. It just took a few emails and a little bit of website exploration to figure it all out! Hope this GOLDEN RESULTS Summary speeds up the research for you!

My Zillow profile says I have two sales in one year and 14 for my entire career... tsk. tsk.. The reader of my profile should wonder I am still in the business.

I am not sure if I am going to this yet. As Katerina said, they will just use it for the Zestimate.

I don't understand Jay T's statement of "We don't use this data in our Zestimates". If it is a disclosure state it should match and they can confirm the sale or know to search for the sale if it is missing.

I wonder how Z can have such screwed up data with all these agents doing their work for them.

I have been posting and adding past and recent sales to Zillow.  What I have found to be mind boggling is the fact when you put a property as contingent or pending I have notice Zillow shows it as "off the market" that to me is misleading, I prefer to see what is pending and contingent not assume the listing fell apart......

Jay Thompson  Yes, that is how it is today, but that is not cut in stone. Business models change and the pulling of data changes over time. It is not inconceivable that in the future if you get enough agent sales data that you would not pull that into the programming somehow.

I wondered how they did this... very interesting...  I am not sure if I think this information is needed but I see Agents who sell very little looking better on Zillow because they must be doing this! Hmmm I will have to think about it thanks for the information

I tried to upload my SOLDS to Zillow. It processed less than half of them. I will run my business without cooperating with Zillow. I have my own property for sale. I will do that wihout Zillow, as well. When possible, I will also AVOID showing properties that are listed by Agents who build their business around Zillow.
