10 Ways to Boost Your Curb Appeal

"And we are off!"  The Real Estate Selling Season is positioned to get  into full swing. But, if buyers don't like what they see on the outside , it's likely they will never walk through the door. Here are 10 ways to boost your home's curb appeal

  1. Make a place for your trash cans that is out of the line of sight. A small partition of privacy fencing is a neat way to hide the cans.
  2. Power wash your walk and driveway. Nothing looks worse than oil stained concrete
  3. Update your mailbox. Paint or replace with a modern looking box.
  4. Give your front door a coat of paint. For color ideas , search houzz.com for some great ideas. My personal favorite is "black is the new black".
  5. Polish or replace the door hardware.
  6. Draw the buyer's eye to the entry by adding color near the front door. Potted plants , flowers or a wreath are welcoming items.
  7. Freshen up your landscape with mulch and replace any dead plants
  8. Paint  trim or shutters
  9. Consider planting shrubs or covering any utility meters
  10. Take a picture of the front of your home and exam the picture closely. It is amazing the details that you will notice in a picture that you may not observe with the naked eye. One such item that I noticed is my messy garden hose!

I would love to hear your ideas!

Paula, it depends on the exterior color of the home, but black or deep brown hardwood mulch is hard to beat!  It really pops against the green foilage and brightly colored flowers in the landscaping beds around the home.

Paula, you are so right in that curb appeal should be given much importance by anyone considering selling their home.  It's amazing what a little freshening up can do to change a prospective buyer's first impression as they pull up to the home.
