Why I STOPPED Trulia & Zillow Ads

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX AT BARNEGAT BAY- 0121173

They have Outdated information on both  Zillow, Trulia,  I regularly receive inquires from prospective buyers who’ve seen this or that property for sale on Zillow.

When I look it up I find that the property is either in escrow, or was recently sold, or was sold literally years earlier. on many occasions there are property addresses that don’t even exist. And when people get the truth they are often skeptical. If it was on Zillow, so they assume, it must be correct.  It's NOT.

I was once a paying member in the tune of 800 a month to be a PRO.  Well Zillow & Trulia. I am a PRO. I do not need to pay web sites to place a label next to me Stating such. All they are  is a search and retrieve for leads they offer to 3 different agents. Incorrect info. Complaints from my clients, zesitmates

Now recently what has truly caused a stir. Is The "FOR SALE BY OWNER"  option. I have lost 2 buyers and a listing because of your new feature.

So if you expect me to pay you to lose business you are wrong!

What do you think? Do you use Trulia or Zillow in your business?

Patricia "Pattie " Romano Your observations and experiences are not unique. We regularly receive calls from telemarketers from virtually all the parasites in this industry. To survive, agents need to watch the flow out as much as the flow in of cash. Great post.

I receive calls on outdated listings as well, but unfortunately many buyers still use these sites...

I spent the same $ on Trulia and Zillow one year (before Zillow.com bought Trulia) in the same zip code in Tucson, AZ.   Zillow ROI destroyed Trulia.  In fact, it was the best ROI I have ever seen.  I have watched and asked many a question to Zillow reps over the years, bought and sold their stock, etc.   I have watched them grow, dilute their "impressions", and raise their prices.  This last round was the last straw, a zip code that was costing me $207 a month is now $850.  When the rep called I told him to write this down, and told him exactly why I would not subscribe any more, and why many others would stop as well.   I knew eventually they would not be able to help themselves.  Keep raising the prices until they drove themselves out of the market.  I hope for their next trick they start charging the public for using their GUESTIMATES, I mean "Zestimates" which are a ballpark guess, at best.  We are the ones that pay for Zillow.com, if enough agents stop paying for their bloated services, what do you think will happen?

They called me (again) a while back. Offering a special mortgage guy deal - for a BAzillion$/mo  even with their estimate of what business it would bring in the numbers made absolutely no sence.
