What would your obituary say about you?

I was pondering the obit page of the local paper, not something I read frequently but this time it was of interest. I wondered what would my obit read like. Thinking of that made me ponder what would people say about me after I was gone...

I found a web page extorting the virtues of writing your own obituary. That site lofted the idea, implying it may help you establish goals and see yourself in a different light.

 So fill in the blanks.

 Mr./Mrs. _______________________________________ Born ___________________ is survived by ____________________ and ______________________________. Married to _____________________ for _______________ years.

Mr./Mrs. ____________________________ was actively involved in ______________________ and _________________. As an avid ______________________________________ His/her neighbors and friends said he/she died doing what He/She loved ________________________________.

 A long time __________________________________, He/She devoted His/Her life to ___________________________.

 After a long career Mr,/Mrs. __________________________ had spent His/Her final days ________________________.

Mr./Mrs. __________________ was best known for His/Her devotion to ________________ Where they made a difference in the lives of __________________.

Mr./Mrs. will be sorely missed by __________________________.

 Above all Mr/Mrs. was a _________________________. Putting _______________ before _________________.

 What do your blanks say?

I am up tonight running thoughts through my mind.  I heard a new friend of mine died in a car crash.  He is actually an ActiveRain member...so I have been poundering life...

I would hope mine would say that she was thought of as a kind, caring, giving person who loved her Lord, her family and her career in that order.

Thanks for a wake up call, we say how important we are in life but it's death that the real person comes out.

Good food for thought! I hope someone will think of some really good lies at lies! Just kidding. There was an article published in our local paper about me a couple of years ago. The title was living to leave a legacy. I hope that in itself says something about the way I live my life for my children and grandchildren. Your blog should make us all ponder the question....

I thought of this post because of several influences in my life. The most profound of those influences was a great man named Milton Enlow. Milton is my Father-in-law, I have never held any man in higher esteem. Milton is a veteran of Patton's third army, infantry. He fought his way through the ugliest of wars and earned the Purple Heart for the wounds he received.

Milton Enlow is the most honerable, decent, hard working man I have ever met. He was a great father to my wife and a fine example to all who know him. But the most remarkable thing about Milton Enlow is his devotion to God and his belief in Jesus.

I honestly hope that someday I can be half the man that Milton Enlow is.
