Thanks for stopping by and taking time out of your day to read my post. My intent is to put a smile on your face. Hopefully you’ll go away with some information you may have forgotten about or did not know. Now sit back and enjoy the post for the day.
Most of you will not recognize the name and I have no history about her childhood, where she went to school and her family life before she met her husband Jerry. Now I’ll tell you the rest of the story.
I have no record of when they were married but they moved to Los Angeles in 1943. Betty gave birth to a son the following year. They borrowed 8,000.00 to buy a 15 room home. Betty worked as a car hop earning 200.00 a month while Jerry road around picking up females and bringing them to their home for sex. With her only working they rented a portion of their home to handyman Alan Adron. He had firsthand knowledge of the abuse but back then one did not get involved. He (Jerry) once asked Betty to have sex with a mechanic to pay off a debt. When she refused he slapped her rupturing her ear drum. Anyway the abuse went on and it came to a head in 1948. Jerry brought a young model home while Betty was there. Enraged she threatened them with a pipe wrench. Fearing Jerry would return and kill her she convinced Adron to come to her rescue. When Jerry came home he was dragging Betty around by her hair in the family room. Hearing her screams Adron showed up and shot Jerry twice before the gun jammed. Jerry didn’t die from the wounds but did when Betty hit him 23 times in the head with a meat cleaver.
Anyway the prosecutor decided to charge them both with murder. Both were acquitted but not for what you may think. The jury stated the state had failed to prove the charges beyond a reasonable doubt….
