ABP Alway be Prepared! Trunk Kit for Realtors

By
Real Estate Agent with Global Realty Marketing, Inc

Hey AR!
Let's Face it, our office is not 'brick and mortar' its out in the field and at people's kitchen tables. And you never know when you will need something that's why being prepared is being professional.  Plus now-a-days its much less economical with gas prices and your value per hour to run back to your home or office to 'get stuff'.

So as a way of setting myself apart from the competition, I have comprised a list a few things to always have in your vehicle.  I call it my ABP (always be prepared) trunk kit.

  1. Your listing presentation (flip chart, laptop, etc.)
  2. A presale package as a free item of value describing real estate stats about one's area with mail in form on last page.
  3. Area maps (not always necessary if you have a computer or nav system)
  4. Camera
  5. Appointment book
  6. Business cards (duh)
  7. Personal Brochures / magnets (for some reason people can't bring themselves to throw out a magnet)
  8. Listing contracts and consumer notice
  9. Loan Amoritizatoin table
  10. Your Cell phone (another duh, this should be attached to you.  Some people carry an emergency trac phone too)
  11. Calculator
  12. notepads
  13. Pens/Pencils
  14. 'Thank you' cards, envelopes and stamps
  15. Measuring tape
  16. A flashlight with batteries (This is more valuable than you might think!)
  17. Pliers
  18. w-d40
  19. Scissors
  20. paperclips
  21. first-aid kit
  22. a spare pair of shoes
  23. umbrella
  24. Your Yard Sign (and hammer if necessary for install)

Hope this helps everyone!!

My essentials are phone, calculator, pen, paper, camera and business cards.   If I had to remember all that, I'd never leave the house.  :)

Jack - Great list, but you forgot the roll of paper towels.  I can't tell you how many times that's come in handy.

Good post Jack!!  I agree with you.  I call my car my mobile office.  Sounds like your trunk looks a lot like mine.  I always keep mortgage calculator, sign riders, rubber mallet, and jugs of water to loosen up that Alabama soil (especially in the dry summer months).  If I went out and looked right now I would probably have even more to add to the list.

I'll never forget the time I went on a listing appointment and forgot to bring my Listing Agreement paperwork.  Well, it wasn't really a formal listing appointment..........I was asked to meet with some Sellers, etc.  But I felt sooooooooo stupid.  I never, ever forgot one again.
